In a statement, the Democratic Union Party (PYD) indicated its commitment to the principles of women’s emancipation and support for their democratic struggle in all regions of the world until achieving victory, breaking the exclusionary mentality that restricts the role of women and confiscates their freedom, noting that there is no success without the women’s presence, freedom and participation.
The Democratic Union Party (PYD) issued a written statement on the occasion of the International Women’s Day congratulating all the women movements and organizations in the world and the mothers of the martyrs on this occasion.
The statement included:
“The democratic revolution that started in north and east Syria is proud today of being the revolution of free and democratic women, the women liberated from all restrictions and obstacles that were limiting their significant role and important position in society. With women’s revolution, a quantum leap and significant development achieved at the level of the women struggle.
The presence of women today in all fields of struggle and work in parallel with the great success of the North and East Syria Revolution indicates that it is the women who succeed and achieve the goals of democratic revolutions; likewise, they achieve development for societies and increase the level of their attainment of democracy. On the occasion of the 8th of March which falls on the International Women’s Day, the Democratic Union Party congratulates all the women in the world, the mothers of martyrs, the martyrs of the democratic revolution in north and east Syria, the resistant heroic defending women of human and democratic values in the battlefields as well as all the women workers, administrators in all administrative fields of the Autonomous Administration, and all democratic, political and societal institutions.
On this historic occasion, we commemorate our female comrades who have sacrificed their lives in defense of women’s rights, among them the martyrs Sakina, Shelan, Leyla, Fidan, Zelan, Barin, Arin, Amarghi, Hevrin, the mother Aqida and all their comrades in the struggle and resistance.
In conclusion, we in the Democratic Union Party (PYD) pledge our people, as well as our heroic martyrs and strugglers who resist to march always towards what achieves the democratic and legitimate aspirations of our people to follow the approach of women’s emancipation and support for their democratic struggle in all regions of the world until achieving victory and breaking the exclusionary mentality that restricts the role of women and confiscates their freedom, stressing that there is no successful solution without the presence of women and ensuring their freedom and participation.
